Hey guys, I don’t want to be a party pooper, but I’m a third year psychology student and hempispheric dominance is impossible to determine even using scientific methods and tools at the best of times, yet alone using an online quiz. Do some research before you walk away thinking “yeh, I’m right handed and it says I’m 80% right side dominant” (not that anyone’s directly said that). Firstly, the brain is contralateral to your body, meaning the right hempisphere controls the left side of your body and the left hemisphere controls the right side. Secondly, there is NO scientific evidence to suggest that characteristics (such as creativity, reasoning, logical thinking etc)is limited to one hempisphere. The brain is a network, constructed by neuronal networks. These networks are connected from all areas of the brain and the communication between hemispheres occurs via the corpus callosum. No brain function can be restricted to one area as all areas are connected, and unfortunately science does not know enough about structure-function in the brain as yet to be able to explain how it all works.

I received 51% right-brained and 49% left-brained. Seems about right. I’m left handed, but I do alot of things right handed. Also, I’m a creative person, but I’m very practical at times too. Sometimes being “balanced” gets in the way for me as far as decision making. I can be a dreamer at times, and then my realistic side gets in the way, or vice versa! :D

I’ll say…well on the internet anyway. Seems everyone I know in real life is one way or the other. Do you find yourself drawn to psychology/science and energized by both introversion and extroversion as well? Let me put it this way. I worked with a company’s accounts while in a part time band. Then I worked at a bank and now I teach language arts. Lol…I’m all mixed up.

There must be alot of us then. 50-50 on a couple of tests and with spinning objects (do they turn clockwise or counter clockwise?) tests, I can always see both directions. 1 thing that is very interesting is I’m also in tune with my artistic talents as well…love playing music/writing songs one day, then reasearch psychology the next…funny how freakishly the same 50/50′s are. Can also be introverted/extroverted but feel the need to balance both.

ha i am the same i have taken many test and they say that i am 50-50 and like you i love the arts and the sciences. i read up on psychology than go and explore philosophy. i am the person people go to when they need a logical point of view and when they need creative help. like you people and the mind interest me. i am almost 50-50 on introversion and extroversion as well. i enjoy people and hanging out but love my alone time as well. like you i can spend a whole day reading articles on psychology today, than the next drawing modeling with clay, and so forth. i like this because i have many interest and can find many things to do which helps me hardly ever get board.
