Although they are hard to spot if you are not directly facing a person. Even the most well skilled liers can not trick their subconcious responses. If someone is lying to you their eyes will blink faster as they speak. Also a persons pupils will dilate because they are feeling an emotional response such as guilt. This however does not work for pathological liers, because they generally do not feel such an emotion when lying. Facial twiches, or touching your face can indicate that a person is not being truthful. I know of two other ways you can tell if a person is not being truthful.
